When your Guide first started traveling internationally, many years ago, it also coincided with the time when I was just starting to spend a lot of time and energy on compulsions. Now, traveling after recovering from mental illness is a very different experience. Being present with the place where I am, and not needing to consume all of my adventure time with compulsions, is like the difference between traveling with my head shoved in a duffel bag vs traveling without a bag on my head. It’s different! Here’s a short video I made about the experience, while checking out of a place I was staying in Mexico City:
